Many people come to the chiropractor’s office for the first time fairly skeptical. They don’t understand how a few adjustments can help them so much. Even when they do believe that it may help with their aches and pains, they are afraid of the treatment itself. Chiropractic care is overall a very non-invasive therapy. There is no pre or post care and it does not require any supplemental medication. Especially with the care of Dr. Craig Stover, you are sure to be in good hands.

Dr. Stover is a chiropractor with a wealth of knowledge and trainings under his belt. Along with traditional chiropractic care, he also offers cold laser therapy and Active Technique Release techniques, both of which he received special certifications for. So even if you are intimidated by the idea of getting adjusted, know that there are numerous techniques and ways for us to care for your body.

As mentioned, Dr. Stover is a level 2 Active Technique Release (ART®) provider. ART® is a chiropractic method initially founded with the purpose of helping elite athletes recover back to peak performance as quickly as possible. Realizing the benefits of the technique, it since has been used to treat soft tissue disorders by manipulating soft tissue and reducing the stress placed on joints and nerves for everyone, not just athletes.

ART® has been used to treat patients with a wide scope of chronic pains or injuries, preventing and breaking up dense scar tissue and restoring a normal level of mobility. Some of the ailments that ART has helped treat are, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Lower back pain
  • Shin splints
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tension headaches
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Shoulder strains, including frozen shoulder
  • Bursitis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Sciatic nerve pain/sciatica

Every ART® session you receive is a combination of both an examination and a treatment session. Dr. Stover will use techniques to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of your muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Any tight or ‘abnormal’ tissues are treated by combining precise tension to the tissue, along with patient-specific movements. This means that each treatment you receive with Active Technique Release therapy is customized for your needs. One of the best things about ART® is that it is not a cookie cutter approach to chiropractic care. There is no one-technique-fits-all fix.

Depending on the severity of your pain, you may require multiple sessions. If it is your first time to our office, we follow a simple three step program to relief – Relief Care, Corrective and Restorative Care, and Wellness Care. During the relief phase, we ask that you come in more frequently, about 2-3 times per week. Then, during the corrective and restorative care phase, we ask that you come in about 4-8 times per month. Finally, for the wellness care, we suggest you come in about 1-4 times per month. We do our best to work with each patient on a case-by-case basis, however this is our general outline of suggested visits.
